INTRODUCTION OF THE TOWN PANCHAYAT

Ayyampalayam Town Panchayat coming under the administrative  territory of Athoor  Taluk, Dindigul District.  This Town constituted in the year of 1934 village panchayat as per G.O. No.1157 RD&LA dt. 03.12.1934 and then a Major  panchayat vide G.O. No.3976 / RD & LA dt.26.10.1937.  It became 3rd  grade town panchayat as per proceedings of the Inspector of Local Fund Audit 42339 /59/H5 Dt.08.09.1950 and 1st grade town panchayat vide Director of Rural Development pdl no.84/A/66 dt.30.04.1966 and now it is the selection grade town panchayat as per proceedings of the Director of Town Panchayats Roc.no.2247/83J5 Dt.14.02.1983.


In this Town Panchayat Municipal act has been implemented and followed.  Total Area of Panchayat 19.20 sq.km.    Total 24.40 k.m. of roads, Total 18.00 km of Strom Water Drain, Total Length of Pipe line 11.10 k.m & 15.30 k.m. Distribution pipe line has been Maintained by Town Panchayat.

 The well Known south west of dindigul junction line and Dindigul- Kumuli National highway (NH-45) Extension passes close to town. 


This town Population is in  2011 cense 12175 , present population 12350. Total No of wards 15.


The Cool and pleasant climate of the region is one of the factors influencing the coconut crop harvest in the region.  The temperature of Ayyampalayam ranges from a low of 20º C to a high of 37º C and receives scanty rains as the town is situated on the leeward side of the western ghats.  Ayyampalayam is its salubrious climate extended form Thandikudi Hills.


Owing to these factors, the average rainfall of Ayyampalayam has declined from an average 927 mm.


This town limit water catchments near the well-known Maruthanathi Dam.  So, there is no water scarcity in this town. Further to this the town panchayat maintained 11.10 km pipeline, 2 no.of OHT with the help of above facility the Town Panchayat giving 70 LPCD to the population.


The town panchayat total area is 19.20 sq.km. 24.40 km of roads has been maintained by town panchayat out of which 6.26 k.m B.T.Road, 10.15 km C.C. Road, 0.090 km Paver Block road and 7.90 k.m. Earthern Road.

Ayyanar Kovil Temple


        Ayyampalayam is named Lord Ayyanar who is the ancient god this town.  Every Year festival is celebrated in January. Ayyanar Kovil temple before 150 years ago.


Periya Muthalamman & Chinna Muthalamman Kovil Temple


        Ayyampalayam Town Panchayat there are two important gods are worshiped by people called Periya Muthalamman and Chinna Muthalamman.  In every September the festival is celebrated for three  days.  Beyond the Ayyampalayam Town Panchayat people, the surroundings are participle in this festival.  The Periya Muthalamman Kovil temple was built in 1615 Ayyampalyam Village Peoples.

        After the extension of the town panchayat at east Ayyampalayam which is called Chinna Ayyampalayam, the Chinna Muthalamman kovil was situated before the two hundred years ago.


Gandhi Kundram Thiru Palani Murugan  Kovil


        In the year of 2001 lord Murugan Kovil was built at Kuttikaradu.  Which is called Gandhi Kundram Thiru Palani Murugan.  Thai poosam and Panguni utthiram is the celebrating festival for the temple in Every year.

Government Transport Corporation play number of buses.  Private transports and mini bus services are also operated day and night.  Bus stand with all its facilities is housed in the heart of the town.  There is a good transport network system in the town.
