Uthukottai is one of the important Town Panchayat in Thiruvallur District Uthukottai Town Panchayat constituted in the year of 1968. The Town is coming under the administrative territory of Thiruvallur District. The Town extends over an area of 8.00 sq.km. The Town is situated along 58 KM Eastern Side Chennai and lies on the Chennai - Thirupathi Road. The population of the town as per 2011 census is 12740, wherever 2016 population is 13000.

ஊத்துக்கோட்டை பேருராட்சி பகுதி கும்முடிப்பூண்டி சட்டமன்ற தொகுதி திருவள்ளுர் மாவட்டத்தில் அடங்கிய தாலுக்கா தலைமையிடமாகும். இப்பேருரராட்சி தமிழ்நாட்டின் கடைசியில் அமைந்துள்ளது. வடக்கு, மேற்கு ஆந்திர மாநில எல்லையும், கிழக்கில் சென்னையும், தெற்கில் மாவட்ட தலைநகர் திருவள்ளுரும் அமைந்துள்ளது. பேருராட்சியானது 8 ச.கீ.மி பரப்பளவு கொண்டதுடன் தெற்கே ஆரணி ஆறு நீளவாக்கில் கடந்து செல்கிறது. இங்கிருந்து சுமார் 3 கி.மீ தொலைவில் ஜீரோ பாயிண்ட் என்னும் இடத்தில் சென்னைக்கு குடிநீர் வழங்கும் கிருஷ்ணா குடிநீர் தமிழக எல்லையை வந்தடைகிறது.
